eBay: The seller must provide the carrier with the eBay Import One-stop (IOSS) service number

eBay has announced that it will collect VAT on orders of up to €150 for direct mail to the EU from July 1, 2021. For these orders, the seller must electronically provide the carrier with the eBay Import One-stop (IOSS) service number. Otherwise, the buyer may be required to pay VAT again at the time of delivery.

 

Shopee is landing on Chile and Colombia

According to Reuters, Shopee, an e-commerce platform owned by SEA, is about to launch in Colombia and Chile and plans to launch both PC terminal and mobile terminal simultaneously. Shopee officially launched social media accounts for its Colombian and Chilean sites on June 9 and said it would offer free shipping in these two countries.

Shopee sees Latin America as a valuable new growth opportunity for cross-border sales and has been scaling up its Latin American presence after testing the waters with a small launch in Brazil in 2019.

 

South Korean retail giant New World buys eBay Korea for $3.9 billion

US e-commerce giant eBay has selected retail conglomerate Shinsegae New World as the new owner of eBay Korea, the Korea Times reported on 17th June. The acquisition will be made by New World's E-Mart unit and Naver, which will finance the acquisition of eBay Korea by New World. Once the acquisition is completed, New World will become eBay Korea's largest shareholder, followed by Naver.

Shopee adjusted the seller return and refund process, involving Singapore, Thailand, and other 5 sites

The Shopee platform has optimized the refund process for returns. Starting from June 28, 2021, store sellers in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines will begin using the new return & refund process.

Under the new return refund process, sellers won't have to process return refund requests by themselves, instead, Shopee will evaluate all requests. To make the return refund result fairer, sometimes the seller needs to provide some additional evidence or relevant information before Shopee makes a judgment. Shopee will connect with sellers through a seller center.

 

Cross-border fast fashion e-commerce company SheIn has been hit by infringement dispute

According to the Financial Times, SheIn, the huge cross-border fast fashion e-commerce company based in China, is facing allegations of copyright infringement from several clothing brands. Airwair, the manufacturer of Dr. Martens, claims in court papers against SheIn that the designer "knowingly sold knockoffs" and SheIn along with its sister website Romwe not only copied the designs but also used original pictures from Dr. Martens to lure consumers to their website which sells fake shoes. Subsequently, SheIn issued a statement denying the allegations in full. The hearing will be held later this year.
