This may help online sellers save time in line and get their packages scanned as quickly as possible. There are currently 2,214 self-service kiosks, most of which are located in post office lobbies that are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The goal of the "kiosk" program is to provide customers with convenient self-service alternatives to full-service counters.
According to market research firm PYMNTS, mobile commerce will account for an average of $3.1 trillion in annual purchases in cross-border trade in Europe over the next five years, a 70 percent increase compared to 2020 ($2.1 trillion).
The growth in cross-border mobile commerce purchases is reportedly driven by rising smartphone adoption. Currently, 83% of adults own a cell phone and use it to purchase a wide variety of items.
We have learned that European consumers will make cross-border online purchases for the following reasons: 1. free delivery services for goods; 2. more convenience and a wider variety of items; 3. mobile payment methods are increasing.
FreightWaves reports that the Port of Los Angeles plans to begin charging ocean carriers a fee to allow empty containers to remain at the port's marine terminals for nine days or longer. The fee, which is subject to approval by the Los Angeles Port Commission, will take effect on Jan. 30, 2022.
The Port of Los Angeles Commission will consider the plan at the Jan. 13 board meeting. Any fees collected from residential shipments will be reinvested in programs designed to improve efficiency, speed up shipments and address the impact of congestion.
Recently, the U.S. courier company Asendia USA announced a partnership with DPD Group, Europe's largest courier, to provide parcel delivery services to U.S. online sellers in Europe through the DPD Group logistics network.
Asendia, a joint venture between France Post and Swiss Post with 17 subsidiaries worldwide, offers e-PAQ - its specialized line of international parcel and package services designed for online retailers.
This time it will be pre-DPD working together to create a premium service level e-PAQ Elite, supported by DPD in Europe. Powered by DPD in Europe, e-PAQ Elite will enable U.S. retailers to deliver to Europe's largest e-commerce markets (France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, UK) within 3-5 business days.
The Mexican e-commerce market size will grow by 100% in 2022, according to the Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO), which forecasts further growth.
Mexican e-commerce has been growing very strongly in recent years. 20% of businesses are expanding at a rate of over 300% in 2020, an impressive growth. And, with 19% of businesses expected to achieve online sales of more than 30% of total retail, the digitalization process has been further improved.
